Enjoyed a very pleasant pint of Wherry here on Saturday evening. The service was efficient and friendly and the beer was of excellent quality.

We also had a meal - again, this was very good and came very quickly

The views from the garden are fantastic and made the beer all the more enjoyable.

However, this is very much a food destination, so sitting space inside is a a premium. Not an issue on this occasion as the weather was very good, but if it was wet and cold, the situation might be different.

Called in on Friday - having intended walking to Cley along the coast path, but the sea fret made such an excursion fairly pointless! I had dim memories of this pub from c 1980 but had mentally located it at Morston. Thus I was delighted to find it here - especially the gardens and fig tree etc.
A most enjoyable lunch in a superb setting!

(The collection of "primitive" pier-head paintings is wonderful ... even if they do only date from the 1950s!

The pub's location can't be faulted, overlooking the salt marshes and the sea. However, it can get very busy and runs out of food very quickly indeed. We ate there at 7pm on a Sunday only to discover no fewer than four dishes were off the menu because of the number of lunchtime patrons.

The staff vary in helpfulness. One, when asked for a highchair, simply replied "there's some outside and they're all in use". He was then corrected by a more helpful colleague that there was a spare highchair outside. However, neither member of staff could be bothered to go and fetch it. Such poor customer service wouldn't happen in a pub that wasn't completely secure in the knowledge that hordes of moneyed people will keep visiting because it's the only pub in this Kensington-on-Sea village.

Unfortunately the North Norfolk 'up from London' crowd leaves a lot to be desired and can be rather pushy, so watch out for that if you're queuing at the bar.

The pub sign had gone and there was a distasteful modern "Dun Cow" scribble ojn the side of the building. The pub is quite small and has a barn feel to it with a courtyard and a Stunning beer garden to sit outside and look over the marshes. Excellent pints of Wherry served off handpump, 3.50 a pint. Could have drunk 10. Crab Sandwich and chips at 7 was reasonable given the location. Alternatively you can go over the green to Cookies seafood cafe and they will prepare a seafood salad for a similar price, but expected to be served by robotic eastern european girls.

Excellent location in a lovely part of the North Norfolk coast. I suppose I've never been too sure about what the pub itself sets out be but I used to find it pleasant enough as a place to stop and have a pint as part of a visit to Salthouse.

It has however become too expensive for me (hence my low rating). The last time I went, a couple of drinks (one of which was a J20) which I pay 4.50 for at another pub I visit cost me 6 at the Dun Cow.
