| A regular port of call on my Lytham/St Annes walk about, The Hastings bar/restaurant was subject to major refurbishment back in October 2009. It's somewhat unimposing and modest appearance (large house) is easily missed as it blends in with it's neighbours, but the give away are the large umbrellas which adorn it's front large patio area. Consisting of one large front/side bar, this extends to a large (separated) restaurant at the rear. It's interior fixtures & fittings are of a very high standard and the seating consists of mostly very comfortable leather sofas. The staff were extremely pleasant & courteous with no "top up" requests being necessary, which is always a bonus for me. I have to concur with an earlier comment that compared to it's former re-furb' days, the choice of beers was disappointing. With three pumps on the bar, only Moorhouses Black Cat was available. I was told that the other two would be on later that evening. As followers will know, toilets are a high on my critic list, ut no such problems here though. They were immaculate! Well done to the owners/manager, they are a credit to the place. As for the food, I didn't participate, but from comments made on trip advisor, it is highly recommended. You can find special offers directly from their website: http://www.hastingslytham.com/ To summarise, this club/bar/restaurant is ideal for those trying to impress or just out for a relaxing time. Either way It's opulence & comfort lifts it above the competition. This was once a reliable real ale establishment, but It appears to me the focus is moving towards to food. That said, the beer was in good condition, it was just the choice that let it down. As for the prices? Yes it is more expensive here, but come on, this is hardly your local boozer. | A disappointing visit yesterday. Majority of people in the front bar area were just drinking. Boring Beer choice (Thwaites Original & Bomber + Moorhouses Pride Of Pendle) on the handpumps. The bottle selection was A1 but now more Z1..... and totally overpriced. £12.60 for 3 bottles of Tap7 Schneider Weisse - which out of interest is usually priced at 3 bottles for £5 in Morrisons (Glad It wasn't my round!) bloomfieldjpm - 6 Mar 2011 19:02 |
| More of a restaurant feel nowadays but can go in for a drink in the front part. The food is excellant but a touch pricey - bookings usually required. 4 real ales on (Lytham beer a house beer and Blonde Witch from Moorhouses the other regular). Ales usually wellkept but served in a very strangely shaped glass! The bottle beer selection is A1.. the St Sylvester Tres Monts is fantastic. bloomfieldjpm - 16 Apr 2010 04:13 |
| Smart, modern and well decorated club - well, it says it's a club but I'm not sure if you still have to show your CAMRA card to get in as we were advised to do. We weren't asked for any ID before being served. 4 beers on handpull - all well kept - and foreign bottled beer in the chiller. Very nice outside area for Summer months. chick - 28 Sep 2009 13:47 |
