Reopened after refurbishment. Pleasant place, and - as with the other Wadsworth pubs I've been to, there are lots of active pumps, and plenty of non-Wadsworth beers to choose from along with the decent Wadsworth beers. There are two distinct bar areas linked by the counter and a narrow opening. It's very much a locals' pub, and the drinkers greeted each other and chatted in a very familiar and friendly way,

I liked it. There's a cosy, homely feel.

The Park Inn was our 5th stop in Southampton (the Fremantle Arms was our 4th and is not listed on here). Another fairly friendly pub that is clearly well looked after. Apparently the landlord and landlady ran the pub many years ago and they have since returned to revive the place. It's a Wadworth house with their IPA, 6X & Swordfish. Guests were Castle Rock Elsie Mo & Yeovil Ruby. Luckily for me, Thatchers Heritage was on too. A fair way out of town. We moved on from here to a new craft ale type place called Overdraft, which I'll request to be added.

A Wadworth pub just set back enough off the main Shirley Precinct that has well kept beer (constantly in Good Beer Guide), great staff - especially Jo the landlady (and her daughter), great bunch of eclectic locals and convivial to strangers.

There are normally 5-6 beers on, four Wadworths and 1-2 guests. Added to this are beer festivals that are held from time to time which I have had the pleasure to enjoy!

Nice little beer festival in the garden, 20 ales & 5 ciders & perries. My favourite was Howwler ale from the Cairngorm Brewery Co.

Writing this on the 2nd of April 2010. The park Inn has a beer festival all over Easter, I haven't been there for a while, it always was a decent boozer, I'll write an update next week.
