Dropped in here on the way home from work a couple of times , It has connection with the much revitalised Victoria behind the Alexandra Theatre - so I had high hopes. Normally they have three ales on - Hook Norton being on top form , but the most recent visit only mad goose and very average. The pub is however , clean , comfortable and friendly - so there is hope. It has another bar upstairs and has lots of unusual stuff going on so I will give it another go - hopefully there will be more choice of Ale next time !! DiscoJoe - 12 Jan 2011 19:27
Nice friendly place, greeted as we walked in. A very decent pint of Purity "Mad Goose" was quaffed in the small beer patio area at the rear, 7/10 fat_beer_badger - 13 Oct 2010 14:46
Strange place. very friendly staff, my mate says the cocktails and wine are good. my experience of the draught beer leads me to choose the bottled stuff. Last time i went they gave me a glass with ice with my beer........ SGA - 8 Sep 2010 17:59
Yeah seems to be a pub that`s trying to be something a bit different, not quite sure what though! It`s a bit of a mish mash really, narrow comfy lounge type bar, and a mini Costas like area at the back which would probably appeal to reclusive Goths! on the night the bar staff were pretty friendly, flinging cocktail shakers about (It`s a theme night!) some blokes with a couple of decks playing obscure early soul music (not bad at all actually) and yes females...though they seemed happy in aech others company....they`ve got some bizarre burger night coming up and......you get the drift. Worth a visit so you can make your own mind up! Blastbeat - 1 Sep 2010 14:50
Now for something a little more constructive.....the pub has 3 cask ales available incl. Purity Mad Goose, Hook Norton bitter and Wye Valley HPA. This contrasts to the the Brew XI that the QH used to offer! Decor wise it's a damn sight cleaner than previous and the pictures and colour scheme are interesting. It now appears to have a fair selection of female clientele which is another development on how it used to be. I'd say keep an open mind for a pub which is at least trying, and how many can even say that these days?? peach731 - 25 Jan 2010 14:00
