user reviews of the Ship, Whitby

Went in here as we heard an excellent folk session going on Sunday afternoon. The squeezebox , harmonica , fiddle etc made for a great atmosphere as the music echoed into the rear room. Black Sheep was on offer but there was more lively, tangy alternative, a real Cider - Old Rosie scrumpy, at £3.50. Very refreshing. Considering it is 7.3% a reasonable price and it did the job!

A decent little pub where you are made welcome. Two rooms one with pool ect the other at the front quite comfortable. Only Black Sheep on handpull but it was ok. Staff friendly enough. Was redecorated a short while back, used to be a bit tatty but ok now, beer pricey,as is usual for most pubs in Whitby, but worth a visit

Another white rendered terraced pub, that still looks decent from the outside. The inside is fine too - its like the Buck, in that its an open plan long narrow room - with pool and a separate tv room, cut off by the serving bar. The service is fine and there was a good number of people in.

Sadly, beer wise, its just the usual taps and Black Sheep bitter on handpull. It was decent enough, but not enough to bring me back when there are far better places, with more variety of real ale
