| Fruit machines and TV screens galore, can confirm they still aren't selling ale here. Pleasant enough though. dyyony - 19 Feb 2007 11:43 |
| Dunnings Bar now has a new landlord, Tom Cunningham. Some of you may remember Tom as the manager of the Tantivy (New Victoria) in Queens Road in Watford and also of the Devonshire in Bushey. Tom previously ran his own pub The Mart Bar and Cunninghams Loft in Main Street Carrickmacross, which is now owned by his brother John Joe. Tom is known throughout Waftord as one of the best barmen to ever come to town: a natural, pleasant chap with a great personality. Serving the BEST guinness in town, keeping the pipes nice and clean and offfering a warm and friendly welcome, Dunnings Bar is the place to be for a bit of craic. There is live countrey/irish/60s music on Saturday nights but throughout the week the pub is popular with the locals and Irish, who still call the pub 'The Stag'. Dunnings is one of the friendliest pubs in Watford. Bar nibbles are served on Sundays and the pub gets very busy for Gaelic Football matches shown on Setanta Sport. A real community pub with a great atmosphere. anonymous - 22 Nov 2005 14:03 |
| Neither a restaurant nor a bar really, it’s definitely a pub, which will come as a great relief to those who previously knew it as the Stag. An underused restaurant area has been added and the décor has been tarted up a bit but it has retained all it’s previous character. This is a proper Irish pub by virtue of its landlord, clientele and history rather than a confusing window display and a Johnny Logan CD on the juke box. No juke box here, pleasant piped music and live music every Saturday night. Fruit machines, video poker, dartboard, pool table and large screen TV for sport. No real ales but a good selection of beers and lagers and the Guinness is the best in Watford. Not a large pub but friendly and has a good atmosphere when busy.
