very good, food is nice and so are the staff Alman66 - 12 Oct 2011 14:08
It's been done up well enough since it changed from being a Hoghshead and the prices are reasonable as you would expect. That's as much as you can say that's positive though. Like most Sidcup pubs, bereft of an atmosphere and one of the 'Team Leaders' in there thinks so much of himself it's cringing. hillsiola - 10 Sep 2011 01:58
Love this place for a cheap cosy drinks - I always come here with friends in the week when I am down on a visit from North London. The bar staff are freindly if a little scatty at times. They also tend to run out of silly things such as wine glasses or Thursday night curry menus! The food is basic but very good value - a typical night with food and drinks always costs well under £20. The clientele could be improved but they are just the locals and nothing like the chavs from the 'other' pub down the road.. Becka - 20 Jan 2011 16:15
Humorous name for a pub, considering there's a funeral directors across the road. Found this place to be far superior than its previous incarnation and an absolute joy to sup a few ales and bitters whenever there's a festival on. About time Sidcup has another decent drinking establishment, one that hasn't - and hopefully won't - be overrun by the hordes of teenage chavs that currently reside within the Portrait's unhallowed confines. kriekboozer - 11 Jul 2010 21:50
Quite a small 'spoons, with a short frontage which makes it quite difficult to spot from any distance. Funny layout inside, with little flights of steps up and down to various seating areas (including an odd bit at the back with a sloping ceiling like somebody's cramped loft conversion). 10 handpumps. Excellent pint of Herold Black Chalice from the International Beer festival, served full to the brim and a real bargain at £1.79. rpadam - 24 Apr 2010 10:32
