| I visited on a Friday evening after work a few weeks ago. It seemed a good pub and the beer was good. The only problem was that it was so crowded that we had to stand outside in the cold. I'd go back to try it again, but at a less busy time. hitchinsampler - 2 Dec 2011 23:28 |
| Only 2 beers on when I tried this pub, and I had a pint of Titanic. Beer was good, but at £3.80 for a mid-range draught ale, I would hope so. Bottled beers were way out of my price range. Place felt more like a cafe than a pub, and at these prices, I probably won't be back. Perry - 15 Nov 2011 22:44 |
| My new favoutite pub, after moving into the area last year. Great beer selection, and the bar staff are not only friendly, but seem to remember everything you drank on previous visits, which is a nice touch. And there's never an aggressive atmosphere, unlike in some of the other locals nearby. bendybazz - 10 Jun 2011 09:35 |
| Had a look in here mainly because I drink in the 'sister pub' the Old Red Cow in Clerkenwell. Max the guv'nor designed both bars. On the Sunday afternoon I visited, it was not that crowded, most people were sitting at tables 'Wi-Fi'-ing or watching the football. Had a pint of Redemption (forget which) and some Windsor&Eton Dark IPA (really!) The bar is small and full of 'stuff'; six ? fonts and four hand-pumps, and there is a lot of food traffic, but beer service is quick, and Max always takes time out to talk about what beers are on. Didn't see any 'grown men with jewelry' (previous review) but there *were* a couple of Bermondsey 'Geezers' showing their posh totty around the 'manor'. All in all, a great start to what was a very nice Sunday afternoon; walked up by Guys and the Shard of Glass (awesome), and had a mini-crawl round the local pubs, mostly Youngs, would you believe? . | Used to be a good little pub to watch rugby in but has changed massively it seems. Went there a month ago and it was full of what looked like characters from 'the only way is essex'. I counted at least 10 grown men wearing jewellery. It's a shame because it used to have character, now the proletariat masses have runied it and it is the same as 90% of other places.
