Pleasant pub with a railway theme, sizeable smoking area at the front and my pint of Martland Mill 'Clogmaker' was very palatable.

Had lunch there today (my first visit) and was impressed. Good pint of dark beer (sorry didn't note the name) and the management/bar staff very friendly and efficient The beef stew was excellent and for the first time in a long while I couldn't finish it there was so much - and the home made chips were really good (definitely not the all too common oven chips). Yes there were a lot of old people in there but they were enjoying themselves and it is obviously a comfortable place for them to meet and have a meal and drink. Don't know what it's like at night but I'd definitely go back for lunch next time I'm in Southport

Yep reburbed and open for business, very much the same, off key singer, ignorant customers, main bar is the annexe for Southport general mortuary dept, you can tell I didn't like it nice bar staff felt sorry for them.

The first time my boyfriend and I went into this place the bartender chewed our head off for turning off a very loud television! We were trying to have a conversation while listening to the trivia answers. Later, when I ask for a shot the barmaid said, "I don't do shots here. I don't want more of your kind coming in here, we don't want more young people coming in here and wrecking the place." I gasped but tried not to let it ruin my night. I am 42 years old! Not some reckless college student! After this we still stayed only because we ran into some friends that were there. After this terrible welcome I did not want to return. Low and behold I found myself back at this place a second time a month later. It started off ok, but the crowd really are very old, they are bitter people that have nothing else better to do than to gossip and make you feel unwelcome. Ok, you got it. We will never come back to this awful place with rude people again!
