Had the worst pint I've ever had at this pub. Black Sheep, which was unrecognisable. If you like your beer, go to the Coach and Horses or the Tap and Spile, both of which are very close by. dalesman1000 - 24 Dec 2010 14:42
I can only agree with redmax. exercitusx - 7 May 2010 18:42
The previous (wholly impartial, I'm sure) reviewer comments that "Muckles will exceed your expectaions". I'm sure this is true, as most Harrogate dwellers would have zero-level expectations of the place. If you want to drink Fosters, watch Sky Sports and have blaring music pumped out at you then this is probably the place for you. But then three-quarters of town pubs give you much the same experience. redmax - 3 Mar 2010 13:42
Bearing in mind this pub was hrs from closing only 15 months ago the pub is now a thriving, warm & friendly place. Yes sport on TV does feature but there is so much more to this place than that. The food menu is extensive & exceptional value not to mention extremely good quality. The beer quality is without question amongst the best in Harrogate. Re Mummers / Gatelad review - get a life! The pub supports local charities consistantly throughout the yr. Frankly you weirdo's can go else where! To normal people - all I can say is that Muckles will exceed your expectaions....... a.billingham - 26 Feb 2010 15:28
This was once Tetley's flagship pub in Harrogate, one of the few entries in the Good Beer Guide in the '70s. Since then, the brewery and now pubcos, continually demonstrate that they are clueless about what makes a good pub. "Oldboots" has described the interior - I will just describe an encounter last night. I was following the local Folk Mummers on their tour of West Park pubs, where they perform a 4 minute traditional English Mummers play, then collect for Local charities. One of two bar staff, in his black uniform, said they shouldn't be doing it as they had not got permission. Actually they had, but the absentee landlord/manager perhaps hadn't told him. The scene was observed (or not) by a few clumps of blokes with their eyes glued to the football on the large plasma screen, whilst unrelated "music" pumped away in the background. A very sad place indeed. The Mummers didn't stop for a pint and neither did I. JBGatelad - 16 Dec 2009 09:42
