user reviews of the Albert, Windermere

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Large Robinsons pub on the corner at the bottom of the High Street in Bowness.

Attractive looking from the outside and very prominent. Inside it's modern and geared up for food on one side and drinkers on the other with a large TV positioned towards the beer garden area.

5 ales on the hand pumps, 4 offering Robinsons ales and 1 offering Hartley's Cumbrian ale. My pint of Trooper was good.

A lovely building, good selection of ales, nice outside seating area but the service needs a bit of work still worth a stop for a pint nonetheless.

Beer ok. Not too busy at this time of year. No particular pressure to order food.

You would wonder if this establishment should really be considered as a resturaunt that sells beer rather than a pub that does food. Quite busy when we were in but felt a bit uncomfortable in that it appeared to be an issue that we wanted to sit at a table, but not order any food, even though there were no seats at the bar. No great fan of Robinson's beer but the pint of Double was top notch. For beer only, this is perhaps a post watershed [ after nine] place.
