| Amazing that the pub with the best spot in Ironbridge, right opposite the bridge, is so ordinary. The night I went in there the beer was ok, but the place smelt like a deep fat fryer and the only other clientelle were, well, grubby is probably the best word to describe them. | It is such a shame about this pub. OK now they do a decent cask ale but the place is full of chav and chavettes climbing over the furniture on a Saturday evening - not a pleasant place to be. Stopped for 1 and left. Great location, shame about the standards! stevane - 11 Feb 2010 15:43 |
| Fair play the Tontine now has decent cask ale (didn't used to!) Decent pints of Butty Bach and Salopian Shropshire Gold. Still a bit of a down market place but OK. stevane - 25 Nov 2009 12:12 |
| Decent hotel bar directly facing the iron bridge that feels more like a pub. Loads of interesting paintings etc on the walls along with other memorabilia. Lots of different styles of seating as well. Some comfortable sofas, some leather sofas and a couple of chairs with the backrests made from wagon wheels. Two banks of three handpumps doubling up with Salopian Shropshire Gold, Corvedale Norman’s Pride and Wye Valley Butty Bach. The Corvedale was a decent pint. It’s a hotel from a bygone era apart from the prices, my pint was £2.80 which is pretty expensive even for a tourist trap like Ironbridge. ROBCamra - 2 Jun 2009 15:18 |
