It has now been turned into a private house!

A fantastic pub but has in recent months been closed. Perhaps a change of ownership soon and a re-opening? I'm hopeful.

Not as great as it thinks it is. Bills itself as a riverside pub, but in reality the river is little more than a muddy ditch. Proximity to Hitchin means it is rammed on a sunny lunchtime, and getting served at the woefully understaffed bar is painful. As is the wait for food, so we didn't bother, but where people did manage to get food served on the same day they ordered it (or had they been there since yesterday?), I must admit it did look good. Beer selection is dismal: nothing but the standard Wells and Youngs offerings to be found in all Charles Wells houses.

Warm welcome, good service, reasonable food & drinks prices. Great food, well cooked and generous portions. Highly recommended.

When cutting thro' from A505 to Three Moorhens roundabout ,we always pass the road to Charlton with an advert directing people to The Windmill
Last Saturday we decided to have a look.
What a great little pub.The place was heaving! We managed to squeeze ourselves in and ordered a variety of meals. The steak was done to a turn-you could actually cut it.(not many places can say that)The landlord & staff were attentive & friendly We are sure to return
