yep for sure its pricey , but you get a good pint . food service is pretty shoddy and the wait is always a long one , I keep telling myself not to order but then once you have had a couple ...... Not too sure about the restaurant being independently run , this is a managed house so fullers would have the whole of the business brasero - 17 Apr 2012 17:21
This pub promises so much but you come away feeling that it could have been better. The location next to the canal and Apsley marina is delightful, especially in summer. The building is large, clean, and well maintained. The beer quality is excellent as you would expect from a Fullers pub. But the drinks are pricey (as with all Fullers pubs) the food is good but not great and it can get very busy because, somewhat annoyingly, the upstairs section is an independently run restaurant. Service can also be a bit slow and on more than one occasion now I have been confronted by bar staff that don’t hide the fact they really don’t want to be there. JonnyConsumer - 14 Nov 2011 15:17
Good pub but expensive, properly expensive. Kids seem to be welcome but have started to get an uncomfortable feeling taking them in. No effort made to welcome kids. Finally have some proper stools/high chairs around the bar! Food is OK but classic british nonsense. Fish and chips. Battered this that and burgers. Please god, you have a kitchen full of chefs, have none of you seen a french menu?! I want someone to take the deep fryer out and chuck it in the canal. I'd murder for a proper steak bearnnaise, or a fresh onion soup with parmesan. And for gods sakes serve fresh baguette with meals!!!!! I don't want to have to ask! Lovely relaxing pub in summer though. A strong contender. bonzodog1 - 27 Apr 2011 22:33
Jesus !!! £3.70 for a pint of ale..utterly ridiculous.I dont care if its down south as an excuse..just Dick Turpin prices. You need a mortgage to drink here and be loaded. the grub looked nice though and was reasonably priced for the quality portions that were coming out. Just a shame the prices are ridiculous,as I could stayed in there sipping all night. markredfox73 - 6 Apr 2011 09:31
Fine beer, fine food, great location and helpful, friendly staff. Recently witnessed a barmaid giving excellent personal advice on choice of wine to accompany a meal - and a taster for the customer to decide dGriz - 22 Nov 2010 16:00
