user reviews of the Ramblers Bar, Penrith

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Stayed at the Inn on the Lake and went looking for a pub. The Ramblers is more or less joined to the hotel and looks great from the outside. Unfortunately the whole place has a sterile chrome gastro feel. Go to the Ratchers Bar just down the road which has all the character that they've ripped out of this place.

As with the previous poster, walked from the camp site in Patterdale to find it closed for a private function on the 17th July! Therefore, zero from me too.

Came down from Helvellyn to find the 'Ramblers Bar' closed for a private function!! on 21st May. Big fat Zero I'm afraid. Surely they've got the rest of the hotel for functions and the ramblers bar should be left open?

Stopped by twice on our recent (April 2011) trip to the Lakes. It has a clubhouse feel, rather than pub, with surprisingly few tables and lots of floor space. Very popular with families, (like ours) with football & pool tables and a super outdoor play area to keep them occupied. We had a supe tapas sharing platter & the kids meals were good quality too. Great walks nearby & super location, with friendly staff & locals from the sailing school.
