My mildly critical review has been removed, so this hole can help itself to a big juicy zero rating!

I stupidly dropped by here last evening after running the gauntlet of Woking's Peacock Centre. Upon entering there were just two characters sat at the bar. I soon realised that they were both a couple of meat-heads. They would have made greater sense if they had attempted sign language instead of trying to speak.
I opted for a pint of Black Sheep. The pleasant enough fellow tending bar then experienced the spluttering cough from the pump which signalled the end of the line for that particular barrel. Obviously I then opted for the only other alternative - Doom Bar. Instead of selecting a clean glass y'man hovered the glass full of foam and detritis from the failed attempt at Black Sheep under the pump. I said nowt. 3 later my pint was presented before me albeit with an extremely deep and frothy head. I calculated that what I had there was about 30 pence worth of foam. I said nowt.
Meanwhile along the bar to my right the two bozos had become both animated and loud whilst someone they knew was attempting a telephone conversation with his finger in his ear on the landline behind the bar. The F word happened along with the C word courtesey of the brothers GRIM without any response whatsoever from the (acting ?) management who, like me, could not have failed to hear. The person making the call was not amused when he finished and pointed out his displeasure to the two remedials (whom he clearly knew).
Memo to the Management : You need to reprimand idiots who make the prospect of a quick, quiet pint an unpleasant experience for normal people like me. You will see from my two previous posts that I have been associated with this pub on and off for nigh on 32 years now. It's a pity, but along with a low rating I also send out a strong and clear message that, for now at least, you can shove your dreadful pub squarely up your arse.

Popped in a couple of times lately when visiting Woking area. Clean refurbished pub with several areas to sit including at bar. TV's showing sport, though not intrusive. Range of food from 5pm though did not try this time. Excellent pint of Timothy Taylor Landlord and Sharps Doombar on my visits, which at 2.60 were well below normal Woking prices. Has obviously improved vastly since previous comments made, and worth a visit.

This pub has gone through about 5 managers in the last year, comments from a few of the locals seem to argee that Lesley and Tim (the current managers), seem to have got the pub going in the right direction. It is now open more hours (it seems that sometimes it used to be closed for a day or two without any notice). Food is loveley, look for the specials, I have had two now, and both were really good value. I have heard they are planning to get a 100inch tv for the world cup (sounds unreal, but looking forward to seeing it!). All in all, for the last 8 weeks, they look like they are really turning it around, its really nice to see the pub actually busy for a change..... keep going guys!!!!!
