Visited this Sunday gone, a nice relaxed pub, the beer garden at the rear was a real suntrap. I dont usually eat at pubs (having been disappointed once too often) but the beef and ale pie I had here was superb. Also serves beers from Shaldons own brewery, Ringmore Ales, and at the time of my visit 2 beers from Princetown. Well worth the ferry trip over from Teignmouth. Hodge1 - 3 Oct 2011 06:21
Went in recently, ordered a pint and proceeded to roll a smoke for outside like everywhere nowerdays. Was informed by jumped up little pwner that there is a no smoking policy, even in the beer garden. When asked where one can smoke whilst enjoying a pint, was instructed '100 yards up the road'. Even if the beer was good, which it wasn't I wouldn't return. Keep going that 100 yards to the Royal Standard . Better beer and better reception. barber - 28 Apr 2009 15:51
Lovely pub, sympathetically refurbished. Excellent choice of beer including the awesome Oarsome brewed specially for the pub I believe. Great food, especially the brie and cranberry wellington! No smoking beer garden to the rear is done out very well and a real sun trap. Best pub in Shaldon by far- recommended. steve_on_tour - 24 Apr 2009 13:34
