The Cross Inn is a lovely pub and we were made to feel very welcome when we popped in for a couple of drinks at the weekend. We were lucky enough to grab the seat by the welcoming fire. I picked the wrong pint which was on its way out and upon returning, it was replaced without any problems.

I knew this pub before the recent changes and would say that it had a definite charm and was a proper local boozer. Trouble is, proper local boozer is all well and good if you are a local but as a visitor you need more. Now it has more, much more. There is clearly passion and knowledge behind the bar now and the ales are kept very well indeed with rotating variety, so always something of interest. The pub is warm, cosy and welcoming to all and still very rustic but clean (not like before!) and the massive inglenook is still a belter of a fireplace. The food is straightforward and of a good high standard, the roasts great and the Sunday afternoon music events really popular.

Country pub full of character both the people and property. A beautiful roaring open fire place in a cosy nook and another in the middle of the pub. A great place to warm up with a glass of ale, mulled wine, expresso coffee and even tea. This recently refurbished pub is child and dog, we've been advised a beer garden is being landscaped in April 2012 and the function room is perfect for a small wedding or private party. The landlady Mollie is fantastic! Speak to her with your requirements and you wont be disappointed with the service here. We cant wait to book our party here and the catering is done on site. Generous parking space too. Carry on down the road and you'll be at Bodiam Castle and stream railway in no time. Or go through lush country lanes to Rye. Simply lovely
