This is a highly unremarkable shop conversion pub populated by Irish builders and pensioners. The twenty or so people in during my visit late one afternoon were transfixed on the tiny TV set that was showing Deal or no Deal. They were giving each other advice on how to beat this game of total chance.

The barmaid was friendly enough, but I think she did wonder who I was and why on earth I had wandered into her bar. It was like sitting in your front room watching a TV programme that you didn’t want to whilst people that you wouldn’t give a second glance to in the street walked in and made themselves at home.

Unsurprisingly, along with some standard lagers the draught selection is John Smiths, Guinness and Strongbow.

I think I’ll give this place a miss in future.
