We made two visits to this pub while staying nearby, it is a lovely pub, they serve 4 top quality real ales and deserves better credit. The restaurant in a separate bar serves delicious freshly cooked meals which are also good value.

Service was a little slow on our second visit, but it was Saturday night! And the food was worth the wait.

A very well run pub with a good garden. The bar is a bit pokey (there's not much that can be done about that or the regulars with dust on their shoulders), but probably one of the best pubs in the Cheltenham area.

This pub is cracking. It has a cosy, atmospheric bar and an excellent restaurant. There is also an attractive garden with covered seating area. I am not a real ale man (more cider), but I am told they have a good range. I'd recommend this pub to anybody and will definitely be back.

I've not been to this pub for about 10 years and frankly it will be at least another 10 (or a change of staff) before I ever go there again!
My wife and I went there this afternoon for a drink and the service we received was absolutely shocking. To evidence this;
On entering my mate and I ordered pints of different beers, and our wives had soft drinks. My mate's beer was served straight away. He's been there before and was acknowledged, and I was ignored, despite being the one paying. When I was spoken to I was told that the barrel had to be changed on mine. To give an indication of the lack of service I had to ask TWICE where my pint was, and all the other drinks had been consumed before the landlord daned to put mine on the bar.... and didn't even bother to tell me it was there!

OK, I thought, we'll give them the benefit of the doubt as they're a bit busy and I'll buy the next round too, just to see what my experience is the next time? Well, imagine my thoughts when I went to the bar, waited until the barmaid (who'd served us the first time) finished serving the person in front of her and then immediately turned to the guy who'd just walked up beside me (an obvious regular) and served him next? To give you some idea, I'm 6'1" and 17 stone, so I'm hard to miss, but the barmaid thought that the regular should be served first! When I pointed this oversight out to both the barmaid and the landlord, who'd just walked into this side of the bar, I was simply ignored!!!!

To give you some idea, I've never posted anything on any forum or site, EVER, but felt so strongly about the lack of service and common courtesy I have come straight back and registered my details to post this!

watch out if you're not local as you may not get the best service!!!

I had salmon which was raw in the middle and was told as I had eaten it from the thick end first, i should've eaten from the thin end and then it would've been cooked by the time I got to the middle !!! hmmmm not sure I've ever come across this before with salmon!!

I will add this was about 5 years ago however. Not been again so cant comment whether things have changed - i was eventually given discount on the bill - but only after telling them we were locals (have a northern accent and had only just moved into the area!)
