I understand it used to be known as "The Welcome Strangler". It isn't too bad - a bit brightly lit, and the decor leaves a bit to be desired, but pleasant service and a decent pint of Master Brew. misterwoppit - 23 Sep 2011 16:33
Got off the train after trip to a beer festival with a mate and thought we'd give it a try but sorry, just don't like sheps beer, not the publicans fault, it's just a crap product. Pub itself is perfectly ok and clean. nelly0164 - 6 Mar 2010 14:22
A slightly bland and unwelcoming interior (all white walls and 70s decor) belies a genuinely welcoming landlady and staff. A decent crowd of customers, this place is trying hard to put its old, bad reputation behind it and doing a commendably good job of doing so. Well-kept ales and lagers, but nothing too adventurous. Pool table, large beer garden (although a bit exposed to the street), decent food (especially breakfasts on Monday-Saturdays), darts and petanques. Not the best pub in Jarvis Brook, but a perfectly pleasant place to spend an evening. llykstw - 3 Nov 2008 13:45
Pleasant local next to Crowborough railway station. Appears to be on the up from a previous poor reputation locally. It is a Sheps pub with a full range of their beers. Emphasis is on darts, pool fruit machines. I went in as a stranger ( my train had been cancelled) and was indeed made welcome! sussexred - 10 Oct 2008 11:56
