user reviews of Plough, Borough Green

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

I've past this place a few times when out with my walking group but not stopped. Today was different, we'd decided to give The Kentish Rifleman a miss as we were a little too early to drop in at Dunk's Green, so The Plough was our target for the day and we were not disappointed. The service was quick and friendly, the Tribute was excellent and the WiFi and Arsenal v Man City a real bonus. Visited 13/9/14

We walked here on Sunday and liked what we saw. Behind the bar was a charming landlady and on it a free selection of Sunday bar snacks for the pleasure of punters. I had a lovely slice of quiche, a pint of Thwaites Original and a quick game of pool. Nice atmosphere and great location. Well worth finding.

Friendly country pub .. perfect to relax outside and lose an hour or two, made easier with a pint of excellent Biddenden cider or two.

Stumbled across the Plough during a wander round the pretty lanes near Plaxtol. It is a 'local' pub as the landlady, Jan, called it, and it is certainly off the beaten track, (although actually not far from Borough Green, where the 'locals' come from). We found a very warm welcome, and there were four real ales on - Greene King IPA, Harveys (very nice), Hanburys H.B., and one other which escapes me. The pub itself consists of one long bar, telly room at one end and quieter room at the other, with cards and cribbage boards available. It is homely in an old-fashioned sort of way, and offered a good selection of food, with specials. Outside at the front was a new-looking terraced seating area which had lovely views across the small wooded valley, even in the rain! We listened to the landlady tell us how she cooks curries for her family in a large, shallow indian pan, on an african charcoal cooker, in the garden. We thought about it all the way home, and had to go home and cook a curry for tea! A pub well worth seeking out ......
