A really characterful place that recalls the kind of bar you might come across in France or the US. Beers are good quality and of the continental variety (Belgian etc.). A welcome presence on the Huddersfield drinking scene.

We likeee the Vox Bar. Tend to hit it late afternoon on a Saturday and value the relaxed atmosphere, comfy old settees or mismatched wooden tables, newspapers, good music and a great range of beers and cocktails. Good mixture of clientele from a few beardy locals, football fans, studenty types and just normal folk.
It's not cheap but we willingly pay the extra to avoid drinking in the Wetherspoons just across the road. Try the Vox if you fancy an untypical independent bar.

Not only have I been a regular customer of this bar for years I have also worked at Vox bar and I wanted to set the record straight for anyone who may read these nasty comments and get the wrong impression. Vox sells continental beers, if you have ever been to Germany or Belgium you will notice that the size of the head provided on a pint is approx. 1.5 inches, which is probably why it seems 'substantially' more than what you are used to being served on a pint of Carling. I refuse to believe that ANY of vox's staff would have threaten to bar someone unless they had been abusive towards the staff. Also Vox runs like a family where the pros most certainly outweigh the cons. Even though I no longer work there I still feel very much at home in this bar and not only because the staff I had the pleasure of working with are absolutely amazing but also because the regulars are wonderful too. I don't think you will find another bar like Vox in a town or city centre that has as many loyal and regular customers. They all can't be wrong! it is a friendly atmosphere that has been built up over a decade of hard work and hospitality by the owner. I feel it would be a great shame if the opinions of a few people end up stopping others form visiting and making up their own minds. The armchair in front of the bar is my favourite place in Huddersfield!!

Yes I have to concur with the post made by bourne2 - don't visit this bar if you want to be treated with any respect - the manager is cocky, arrogant and pushy with his customers and condescending and patronising to his staff - he consistently short measures on pints with a 2 inch head and refuses to top up on already overpriced drinks - his imperious and supercilious attitude creates an uneasy and uncomfortable atmosphere for both customers and staff - he wont be getting anymore of my money

Was in Huddersfield for the night after watching Dover in the cup.Found the bar staff good natured and helpful. This was the best bar of the nine or so we tried.Would happily go back if ever back in Huddersfield!
