| We booked a stay at this hotel in March 2010 then happened to see the only review, which made us a bit unsure. Within minutes of arriving, we were reassured. A most hospitable welcome followed by being shown to our comfortable room. We ate a very good meal in the evening by an open fire on what was a very cold night. We learned that the inn had been under new management for about four months. All of the staff we met were friendly and helpful. In the morning I requested the Herefordshire breakfast and was impressed by the quality of the fare, particularly the bacon which I assumed must be produced locally. Overall, top notch. | Absolute chintz overload. Plastic flowers, ceramic pigs, commemorative plates and watercolour reproductions of farm-boys and their dogs. I could go on, and on and on and on. I can't deny that there's a certain, obscure sense of wondrously tasteless ridiculousness about the place, though I'm not sure the novelty wouldn't wear off after the first visit, and then where would you be? In one of the most garish, atmosphere-free drinking establishments in all the shires that's where. Food looked all right mind you, and some jolly handsome cakes were on display. Strange place though.
