Nice large pub with good priced food which is very well presented. There were three ale's to choose from and all good including a locally made one. The pub was very clean including the loo's. The food was well priced allthough some of the bottled beers seem somewhat pricey. My only fault i found was the service was on the slow side and there seem to be not enough staff. on the hole a pub thats worth a visit. love_a_pint24 - 9 Jan 2012 17:13
Nice spacious feel, shame it's a Greene King so beer choice a bit limited. Off topic, but recommend the butcher opposite for a pork pie on the way out! OldRogue - 2 Jan 2012 16:59
We are a young family who went for late Friday lunch at this pub and ordered food (from a very overpriced menu) and 2 rounds of drinks. Our son woke from his sleep partway though our meal and got out of his buggy to stretch his legs and shortly afterwards we were asked to leave. He did make the odd excited squeal (and I have an issue with unruly children / indifferent parents as much as any other restaurant or pub goer) but this in no way justified the rudeness of the staff & I have never been treated so badly in 25 years of pub going and certainly have never been asked to leave!! There was no subtle "do you mind moving to the garden" or any other attempt to treat us like customers. Instead we were treated like criminals by the objectionable staff member. The place was nearly empty and if other customers are treated with such a lack of respect I can understand why. I see now there are many postings recommending alternative pubs nearby and you should try them in preference to the St Margarets Tavern. If this pub wasn't in such a prominent position it wouldn't survive. Go on, walk the extra block to the Turk's Head, The Crown or the White Swan (my favourite local) which is only 10 minutes walk away & right by the Thames. The guest ale was nice but you can get a decent pint at the White Swan. Minus the attitude. bobbyblah - 1 Jul 2011 21:21
Beer OK, but wine madly overpriced. Many barmaids but slow service. Interior has no tangible ventilation creating a hot, sticky, food-smelling fug. Yuk. Not nice. strongarm - 9 May 2011 16:42
This pub has found a remarkable way to put up prices. Just replace the existing (popular) beers with exotic sounding continental beers that cost a lot more than the originals. A 50 pence a pint price increase with no effort. Oh, and try to find a current price list -- I thought it was a legal requirement. Won't be back for a looong while. venganza - 10 Mar 2011 00:42
