user reviews of the Windmill Hotel, Parbold

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Apparently the Windmill was an old grain store. It's an impressive building outside and inside. I entered to find a group exiting and telling me not to bother as they were fully booked. But I was after liquid refreshment, not food. Ales were from the local Windmill brewery - Anderson's Pale Ale & Deckhand. But there were also guests - Southport Golden Sands, Tetley Cask, Slaters Ultra & Black Sheep Best Bitter. This place is pricy and appears focused on diners. But at least the ale range is decent. Toilets are downstairs where there is also a small outdoor drinking area and access to the car park.

Really rude landlord / manager. A few of us called in for a quick drink and asked about ordering food - the response was unbelievable. Lovely pub, nicely refurnished but very arrogant service and uncofortable atmosphere. I was told that we'd messed them up just showing up like this and we like people to book first. (Thats fine but they were able to accomodate us) He told us he didnt need the business and was extremely rude. On a plus - the barman and waitress were lovely and the decor is great - just a shame we were made to feel like that. Note to the new owner - you need to review the level of service being given here as its letting an otherwise lovely pub down.

Very smartly refurbished. There are only two tables outside the front door but the inside is very nice. They had a few real ales on, one might have been sat in the pipes for a while but it was good to see they had them available. The food is very impressive, the usual pub food with a bit of a twist and very reasonably priced. I am looking forward to going back for more.

Had a refurb since last time I was there. Modern decor which is decent (although my personal preference is older style).
4 cask ales were available at a reasonable price, which was good. Only a very short walk from the station, worth a visit.
