user reviews of Stocks Tavern, Parbold

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

The Stocks Tavern was the worst of the 4 pubs tried in Parbold. As the previous reviewer states, the interior feels whitewashed and very bland. Some tables were set out for diners, with few others available and no standing room. The best spot appeared to be outside overlooking the car park. I was also overcharged by a pound for my drink. I was then refunded the pound in 10p pieces. Wainwright, Pedigree & Sneck Lifter were the ales. But try anywhere else in Parbold and you'll have a better time.

Reopenend but subject to what I feel is a tasteless refurbishment, taking away any character. Two average casks available. Not worth a special visit sadly.

Reopened now and muc hthe same as before. Central bar serves two main rooms. It's modern and airy with whitewashed rooms and modern furnishings such as sofas mixed with traditional tables but the low ceilings mean it retains a cosy feel, and there are nooks and crannies which add atmosphere. 3 guest ales, Prospect Silver Tally and two from Allgates, all in good nick. All in all good to see it reopen, a solid pub if nothing spectacular,

Sadly it would seem this pub has closed. I went past today (Sunday lunchtime) and no sign of life.
