| I am surprised at the largely negative reviews of this pub. We visited recently and were very impressed — good, well kept range of drinks, flexible menu (easy to order a light snack if you don’t want a full meal), comfortable atmosphere etc. The best bit is the service — (i) one of us wanted to buy a bottle of wine, and they readily offered a choice between keeping it in the fridge or supplying an ice bucket; (ii) when a friend queried his pint on the grounds that the glass was scratched, they immediately poured him a new one, bno questions asked. | Right, I'll cut to the chase - £3.70 for a pint of Heineken! We also ordered a pint of Guinness and asked for a lickle bit of blackcurrant - they wanted another 50p for it: they've a blooming cheek. I know it's Muswell Hill, but come off it. MuswellMunky - 8 Feb 2010 10:02 |
| This horrible Gastropub serves an important function in keeping it's pretenitious snooty and trendier than thou cusomers out of other local establishments and as such is vitally important to local residents... Harry_Callaghan - 8 Oct 2009 02:31 |
| Good gastropub - and unusually had Thwaites on. Maybe everywhere else has caught up with their prices but this did not seem exceptionally expensive for the area - and the atmosphere friendly. Diverse customer base - undoubtedly some refugees from the Phoenix. meurglys_iv - 15 Sep 2009 18:32 |
| I was in here last Friday afternoon and although it was dead I could imagine it being very good with the right crowd and less of the depressing blues music. The beer garden was shut, but hopefully it is now open with all this bright sunshine we’ve been having this week. I saw signs for a restaurant upstairs and I thought that the downstairs seating was plentiful and well laid out with a sunken part by the windows. You can spot the gates to Alexandra Palace through a sea of cars and traffic lights. Normal lagers plus some premium on offer alongside Addlestones, Wessex Red and Whippet of Oz. This is not a bad pub and the walk down the hill from Muswell Hill is nice, but I’m not sure it is worth the walk home again. Strongers - 8 May 2008 15:20 |
