Hygiene extremely poor, avoid this public house. On going to the toilet a person I knew to be part of the management came out of the cubicle, DID NOT wash their hands- and as I followed them out they immediately went back behind the bar. Then proceeded to serve customers touching glasses and bottles and of course customers hands as they exchanged change.
It is common knowledge how quickly bacteria and ecoli spread from the disgusting habit of bar and carering staff NOT washing their hands.
If you want to avoid stomach pains and a bar where the management do not even wash their hands after using toilet cubicles do not use The Royal Oak at Ramsbottom.
We left our drinks and moved on to another pub, where some locals told us they were not at all surprised by what we told them. The Royal Oak has a clean facade, but the hygiene levels are atrocious behind the scenes.

Thwaites pub now called the Oaks after its refurbishment. Decent pint of Wainwright.

Clean and well kept along with very palletable ale. At first I thought it was expensive but as I went from pub to pub I realised that they are all roughly the same (Between 2.50 to 3).

Second time I have been in this pub and still impressed! The staff and landlord are always welcoming and knowledgable about the products on sale, will deff use the pub again on my next visit to the area.
