The pub is a bit untidy but don't let that put you off. The landlord was pleasant and the beer is top drawer - in fact, if the selection on my visit is typical, then certainly one of the best in the area. Re the food, perhaps best described as basic - I'll leave it that. But, if it is a nice pint you want then you can't go wrong.

Excellent Sunday roast, reasonable prices. 4 excellent real ales to choose from, as usual. A "proper" village pub. Under the previous landlord, this pub was awful & generally empty. Now, it's advisable to book if you want a meal - I'd guess that tells it all.

Awesome village pub! Food was so cheap but best I've had in yrs! Fresh/homemade, even the chips were 2 die 4! Love the locals, had way 2 much fun! So welcoming! Even the dog got spoiled! Best brew I've had in yrs! Absolutely love this pub for for the location, owners, food, customers and dog friendliness! Can't wait t go back! xx

I find the wolvesfan comment interesting as there was a larger choice of real available than normal, and t'was at a reduced price as well. Somtimes first impressions may be incorrect.

The 3rd annual beer festival at the Eagle was held over the 11th, 12th and 13th of June with 18 real ales and two ciders available from the skittle alley. The was no real ale on tap on the 14th in the main pub building as we were selling the remainder of the beer from the festival in the skittle alley still.
God knows what the reviewer below is on, there were at least 8 beers left to try on Monday and believe me we were trying to encourage customers to go over and try some!
The rest of the review just sounds malicious.
