Dreadful place - the manager threw us out because he thought we should be buying more drinks and spending more money! Despite the fact that I had bought a round of drinks for my friends 20 minutes ago, and the place was empty. Surely a candidate for The Apprentice; he'll go far in business. With appalling hospitality like this, this place will get the custom it deserves.

If you have to use this pub try between 12-2pm weekdays it is usually empty so quick service - all the others in the area are usually full with people who work in the area but we all avoid this one. We normally nip in for a bottle of wine - they can't get that too wrong.

Re the comments about the staff - there is one dark haired barman with a goatee who has a terrible attitude. We too have had run ins but he seems to be senior and never works lunch hours - hurray.

Though he was around last week telling staff about how drunk he had been the night before and couldn't remember getting home. Classy.

The rest of the staff are very nice and it's okay if you want a quick drink - but avoid otherwise.

The pub itself seems nice with a decent pint and average prices. My only problem with the place is the staff ( barman ) who was nothing but rude to my mate when he went up and asked for our drinks. I saw there was a problem at the bar so i went up to see what the problem was. I asked my mate and as soon as i did the barman started being rude to me aswel. I exchanged unpleasantries with him and walked out. If anyone reads this and then gets the same treatment off this idiot then please hit him in the face. I wanted to do this but it's not really my style although im sure i would have took great pleasure in doing so. Why do people do bar work when they clearly don't know how to or want to do it.......... Idiot

Nice classic corner pub type building that is fortunately still kept in decent repair inside. Dark wood floors and tables along with a burgundy painted ceiling and not-too-strong lighting make for a very pleasant environment not a million miles away from a classic European "Brown" Pub. A fair selection of real ales (although two were off during my visit) and a choice of draught lagers and all the usual wine and sprits options are all present and correct and prices are standard for the area. Service was a little too easily distracted, but pretty friendly nonetheless and neither myself or my companion had to wait long at any point although the pub had a fair number of people in and there were only two people working. Drinks were of good quality and background music was pretty tasteful and not too loud.
Food was very good, we both had the Sunday Roast (Beef) and quality wise there were absolutely no complaints, however at £7.95, the one (admittedly reasonably big) slice of beef seemed a little on the stingey side.
Worth a visit, but I suspect more a daytime or straight after work, relaxed type of a drink is what you'd want here and it's not a detination pub.

High prices, quiz machine on the blink, barman with issues in the sense of humour department.

Think I'll give it a miss in future
