| Dined here again yesterday lunchtime and wasn't quite as enamoured of this pub as last time. Same issue with service and the food standards may have dropped a notch. However, The Hop Shed Frizzle was good enough for me to have more than one pint of it and the afternoon was all about meeting up with a friend I hadn't seen since before the pandemic started. paul_d102 - 24 May 2021 14:28 |
| We were passing this pub on Sunday lunchtime and encouraged by the review by Paul that it had re-opened, we ventured in. The pub is a large building with an equally large car park. There seems to be an emphasis on dining. But, there were very few people in. Although we had arrived shortly after opening at midday. Ales were Wye Valley HPA & Butty Bach, Ludlow Blonde & The Hop Shed Pekin. I tried the latter, which was in reasonable condition. blue_scrumpy - 24 Jun 2019 20:11 |
| Has reopened as one of a small group of family owned inns clustered in the Teme Valley. The dining pub ambitions were evident throughout and that was the reason we were there (having walked the nearby Martley Circular Walk which is itself recommended). Food was very good (service a little slow though) and my pints of Ludlow Gold were also in fine condition (£3.40 a pint); so good in fact that I didn't bother trying the Wye Valley Butty Bach or HPA. It got a little cold in the cavernous restaurant barn towards the end of service but we'd rather have been eating there than on the tables in front of the small bar in the main pub. paul_d102 - 25 Mar 2019 12:16 |
| The Admiral Rodney was closed when we tried to visit last week. The pub sign had been removed and it didn't look like it was due to re-open any time soon. Although I read that it should be back in business next month. blue_scrumpy - 12 Feb 2018 19:58 |
| Go on a Thursday if you like steak. Two for Twenty Quid - or thirty if you have a bottle of red. Excellent food. Lovely surroundings - we ate on the patio out the front. Three or four real ales on - but I was taking part in the higher expensed offer. Mappiman - 8 Aug 2014 13:58 |
