Food OK, Doombar, Wainwright and Moor Northern Star on cask, Northern Star was excellent. Good atmosphere and pleasant surroundings. However on a Saturday evening there were only two staff serving at the bar and taking food orders. They were clearly struggling and there was a long wait, both to order and for the food to arrive. I saw several people give up and leave. This was when the pub wasn't busy, lord knows what it would be like with a rush on. Keeping the wage bill down doesn't improve the net profit if the turnover isn't there because you can't serve the customers. Schwalbe - 21 Aug 2011 01:07
Looks ok from the outside... The Sunday roast for 4.95 was really worth £4.95. Juanfortheroad - 29 Apr 2010 18:41
Really attractive pub but utterly dreadful food! Very disappointing visit considering we were there for a birthday treat and no word, apology or offer of discount despite polite complaints - absolutely the worst vegetables EVER offered up. Bar staff doing their best in difficult situation. This is the first review I have ever posted but I feel people should be warned... helper - 30 Jul 2009 10:47
Just visited, black sheep not bad, tasted like black sheep, pipes need cleaning a touch, part of Vintage Inns, food, as ever in this chain, not bad although lacking excitement. Not cheap for Manchester area, but close to airport/Wilmslow etc so not bad for immediate area. Attractive staff ianhh - 24 Mar 2009 21:31
Nice enough pub in a nice setting on the road between Wilmslow and the airport. went in for a bite to eat with a two week old baby and the manager was most accomodating. Food ok but not great. Had black sheep and Landlord on but i didn't sample them as i was driving. However, three quid a pint for a cask ale seems a bit steep. i guess this is down to location of the pub. Out towards the stockbroker belt. kip2000 - 21 Aug 2008 18:09
