user reviews of the China House, Plymouth

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

This is a fine looking place both inside and out but beware touristy places like this think they can be rude to customers and this place certainly did that to us.
The layout is somewhat confusing inside as you don't really know where to sit. Is it a pub? Is it a restaurant? Who knows.
Our food was ok but left still feeling hungry after a two course meal!
Wouldn't come here again.

Surprised no reviews on here for so long. This pub is still reasonably good, though not ahead of the local competition as it once was, in terms of beers. Nevertheless worth a visit for the views.

Ive just visited this pub that i found in the beer guide. I was a bit unsure due to the low mark its got on here. All i can say is theres no way this pub is a 4. It was busy when i visited, i was served straight away by friendly staff, the real ales were kept in good condition and the prices were reasonable considering the location. Most people were eating and the food looked good and again not overpriced. Its a bit dark on first entering until your eyes adjust but overall i thought this a good pub, with well kept ales at fair prices. The roaring fire was welcome on a cold day too.
