| Used to be a really good pub back in the 70s. Just a fairly poor restaurant now. Great building, superb location but no atmosphere & no staff.Food was terrible. Normlikesbeer - 13 Jul 2009 22:52 |
| I was fairly disappointed with my visit here this wek, the first in 10 years. The pint of Doombar I tried was not well kept (I couldn't bring myself to try the Black Sheep- maybe Old_Boots should try it next time he's down this way as he's a bit of a connoisseur of that particular brewery), service was slow and indifferent and there was no atmosphere. The muzak was irritating. I didn't try the food either but it didn't look anything special. I can't see any reason to come here unless you actually live in Abbots Ann, and then there are other pubs in walking distance. ETA - 5 Jun 2009 12:05 |
| The actual pub itself is nice and the beer acceptable, a nice pint of Ringwood Best. However the food was probably the worst I've had in a long time. The service was slow after we were told the lunchtime menu left on our table was unvailable we chose fromthe main menu. Nothing complicated, shepherds Pie, chicken and chips etc. It took an hour and a half to come and the quality was awful. We asked to see the Manager and after some pressing the 18 year old who served us said he was actually the Manager! We got some of our money refunded but we had to work for it! Shan't be going back! | I like this pub, OK it's a restaurant with a small drinking area as opposed to a traditional pub, but the food is fine (even if it is 3663) and they know how to keep their beer. pcpmitch - 7 Apr 2009 16:12 |
