user reviews of Coach and Horses, Portsmouth

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Visited last week, walked in to be told kitchen had issues and thus no food for half an hour. Several other tables in so we decided to stay and wait. It seemed that every member of staff was brand new on the day as many stated they had no idea of what they were doing and that it was their first day so please bear with them. We did and had a medicore meal. At the end of the day its cheap and cheerful microwave food.

Cant comment on beer as only had a bottle of wine - although we did wait half an hour for it to be opened and only then when I fetched a bottle opener from the car as they couldnt find theirs.

Could have been a lot better but with inadequate staff training, "issues in the kitchen" and no bottle openers it is really the responsibility of the owners to sort this place out!

Me and my 2 yr old went to coach and horses for our lunch and to say I was disgusted would be an understatement!! There only seemed to be one person in the whole pub serving, taking out the food and clearing the plates. We waited 20 minutes for our food, this to be was the average time to wait for our meals so I had no complaints there but when our food came out to us the vegetables were cold and my son's food was so overcooked he couldn't even bite into it. The staff member seemed flustered by having to run around doing everything and personal hygiene seemed to be an issue. I was told our plates would be cleared in 2 minutes so we could think about desserts but after 15 minutes of sitting there with the plates still there I decided enough was enough and took my son and left! Will not be recommending this place to family or friends nor will I be returning for another visit.

If all pubs were like this, I'd stay at home. Bland, no decent beer, poor food, overpriced wine.
