| Went to The Fox for the first time since it changed hands, it looked nice & when we went we found out it truely was. We had the festive menu, all the food was lovely, in my party we had a diabetic & someone with severe allergies, both of which they dealt with very easily. They were polite & very friendly. It was such a brilliant choice to eat & I would thoroughly recommend it to everyone. Even my Real Ale loving husband was happy with a pint of Tribute. Well worth a visit. | My wife and i have been visiting lots of pubs in the area and are steadily working our way through the Hampshire Pub Guide. Being new to the area we have had heard mixed reviews of the Fox. I personally didn't enjoy our visit, as my food was overcooked and not very warm at all. My wife's salad was a lot better and she really enjoyed it. Beer was ok and the second pint was better than first. Friendly staff were helpful and bid us a very nice goodbye. | Popped in for Lunch on Sunday, meal was ok and as per usual of pub food so can't complain. The beer unfortunately was not very nice at all, and had a distinct off taste to it. | Had Heard good things about this place through the grape vine so thought we would give it a try again, our last visit was appalling, but that was before it closed. Our first impressions were of starkness, very brightly lit and it was bouncing off the white walls. But the staff seemed friendly so we stayed for a drink and decided to order some supper. Took an absolute age to actually order and then it took a further 30 minutes for our food, no one was in any great hurry and i had to go to the bar and get more drinks myself. By which time the friendly staff manor disappeared as i was obviously interrupting a very important conversation on X-Factor!! Food was nothing special, luke warm and had a standing around feel to it. A real shame as we eat out alot in the area and regularly visit the Black Boy, The Full flood Arms, Chessil Rectory, The Bugle & Raymond Blanc's. | We have been trying out a lot of pubs in this area as we have just moved here from Dorset, and have found this web-site very valuable. We have found some real gems. Unfortunately The Fox & Hounds is not one of them. My beer was off (End of Barrel apparently!) so was the next one, my wife's wine was warm and a bit vinegary. When i complained i was made to think it was my fault!! We should Have gone then, but were hungry and wanted to give them a chance to redeem themselves. I felt like we were being transported back to the nineties, microwaved, bland, tepid, flavorless. Come on guys, every other pub in the area offers great locally sourced food, not bought in rubbish. Even the dessert tasted bought in. Will not be going back for sure. Cost £40 as well!!!! Poor foodybloke - 31 Oct 2010 10:12 |
