| Nice pub, but modern appearance belies a decline in popularity in recent years. In a place where familiarity is paramount the modern decor is at odds with what the locals want, a homely atmosphere. Loud youths and a growing reputation as a troublespot don't help. on the plus side, they pull an excellent beer with a good head and are rock solid on quality. Needs more of the locals back. | Family pub with a kids play area and many kids running around. With the kids, music and the TV all going, it made for quite a noisy experience. Nevertheless, we tried the food which was fairly good. Service in general was good, apart from there being empty glasses on tables for quite some time. The pub itself is decorated in a pale green and cream colour. It is carpeted apart from a tiled area near the bar. A large car park is also an advantage. Two real ales were on - Moorhouses Witches Cauldron and Ruddles County. Not really my kind of pub. Although much busier than the nearby Travellers Rest and Red Lion which we also visited.
