I like this but not for evening time drinking - is far too expensive and agreed with the comment below about not being very welcoming.

Not too bad, but the music's not to my tastes, and when it's busy, it's VERY busy, leading to slow service. An OK range of beers, though the closest you'll come to an ale is John Smith's. A bit pricey. Sticky bar. Levels of staff friendliness vary. A bit too "modern/edgy" in its styling for me. I'll go if my friends are there, but I'll steer them away after a pint or two to somewhere more welcoming.

Gay as Christmas but not bad for a relaxing one.
Good place to go and chill during the week but not the place to go on weekends. the music turns up and the atmosphere gets cramped. If I want loud music I'll go clubbing.

One of Colchesters nicer, more refined bars, sans chav on most nights of the week with a smattering of 40+ Vicki Pollards who should know better on the weekends.

Pricey but worth it. Food is of a good quality but the staff do seem a bit moody and have mucked up my order on more than one occassion; not very ha ha funny. They are fit though.

If your up this end of the high street, definatly pop in. If your not, don't bother son, best try your luck convincing the bouncers at Yates's that your 18.
