user reviews of Lord Crewe Arms Hotel, Blanchland

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

The hotel is fantastic. Oldy worldy. The food was nice but portions are a bit on the small side for the prices. I got a steak and no steak knife? Aside from that staff very friendly. Wouldnt serve us sunday lunch in the bar area only in restaurant. Had been walking and restaurant wasnt really appropriate for muddy walking boots. Lovely place all the same steeped in history and will return one day

Popped in here a couple of years ago after a long walk to this picturesque village. The beer was good and the service incredibly friendly and excellent- I only had enough money for half a pint but was cheerfully poured a full pint! My friend was given a glass of coke for free! Wonderful service and a very nice atmosphere. You can sit inside and admire the olde-worlde charm or sit outside in the beautiful village. Can't fault it.

Glad that this pub has been added. We went in my pre BITE days,(as tourists!) and I'd forgotten its details. Its definitely a fine establishment, with the atmosphere of antiquity and monastic hospitality. Unfortunately it was too long ago to comment on the food and ale, which were definitely good, but for welcome and ambience it scores highly. We aim to return one year...

A fine pub / hotel in a stone built village tucked away at the head of the Derwent Reservoir on the edge of the Durham moors. Popular with ramblers and tourists. Can get isolated in winter. There are several rambling rooms with stone walls and floors. Busy daytime food trade targetted at tourism. Bet it's great here in the evening after they've all gone home! Worth the journey.
