Slightly improved with 3 real ales (all national beers) at reasonable prices. Comfortable and very close to the railway station and meals all day. They are having a small St Georges Day beer festival. wellingtonia - 21 Mar 2010 19:59
Decent large chain pub similar to JDW but not a cheap. Reasonable food served all day and also had a very good couple of pints of Brains SA. Choice of 3 cask ales on. OK atmosphere on a Friday afternoon stevane - 8 Mar 2010 17:01
Still no ale on when we visited last night, still full of teenies, noisy, crowded and generally not somewhere to go for a relaxing evening. It's a pity because they've spent a fair bit on renovation, but it's all being ruined again by the yoofs. The one positive thing I will say is that there was a lot of eye candy on display. Oervall, though, best avoided. ETA - 3 Jul 2009 11:29
This place has now reopened and has a large Smith & Jones pub sign outside. There is new carpet throughout and the place certainly smells a lot cleaner. They have a huge sign above the bar that says “Try our award winning cask ales”. They certainly haven’t won any awards for their cask ale and the selection on the bar hasn’t won that many either. They now have three handpumps Greene King IPA, Everards Tiger and Bombardier, ALL three turned round, pathetic. The clientele haven’t changed either, it’s still a kiddies playground. It’s better than it was, but that’s not saying much. I’ll up my rating by 1 to reflect the improvement. ROBCamra - 26 Jun 2009 11:27
