This used to be a very popular local boozer dispensing an excellent pint of Courage Directors bitter and normally full of friendly 'regulars'. Sadly on a recent visit, the Courage Directors was no longer being served - and neither were a lot of the friendly 'regulars' who I bumped into drinking in one of the other pubs in Cheam Village!!

Disappointing to see such a good pub seemingly going downhill. Also disappointing to see no guest ales being served on this particular visit. Only the two resident ales were being poured, despite five hand pumps being available.

The Railway was our last pub of the day in South London and the best of 3 we tried in Cheam. Ales were Courage Best & Directors, Greene King Abbot, Sharps Atlantic & Windsor & Eton Parklife. The Abbot was fine and for some reason we rounded off the day with sambucas. This is a nice and cosy pub, albeit quite small and standing room only. Being next to the station makes it well located.

Good couple of pints of ale in pleasant atmosphere.

Called in for a quick pint after the Surrey / Gloucester game finished early at Cheam Cricket Club ( with another good Surrey win ). Last here around 30 years ago and glad to see that The Railway has evolved so well. Had an excellent pint of Cotleigh IPA before catching the train.
