| Visited in April 2010, pleasant pub, crowded even though it's seemingly in the middle of nowhere. Went for a meal on a Friday night, but couldn't eat as they were fully booked. | Brilliant position beside one of Romney Marsh's many waterways and great views across the fields and expansive Romney Marsh skies from it's small but tidy beer garden. Take a minute to stand on the bridge to look along the waterway, towards the hills (previously the old shoreline) ... a classic Marsh viewpoint. Thoughtfully provided cycle racks beside the beer garden allow cyclists to leave their bikes safely. Good ales and Old Rosie Cider on draught, with decent wine list. If you're after a loud night out with a jukebox, this isn't the place for you. The emphasis is definitely on food, and very good quality food. The standard bar menu is fine, and the basics such as lasagne and fish and chips are all there, and very good quality. A daily specials board features fish of the day, locally caught, and changes reguarly. The Inn acknowledges that you can sometimes wait a while for food, and the service does often appear a little on the slow side. Don't come here if you want a quick in-and-out meal! The food is freshly prepared and well worth waiting for. This is the difference between the frozen rubbish that gets heated up in other establishments. The staff are polite, friendly and welcoming, reinforced by owners, Mandy and David, who regularly come around the diners giving the place a personal edge that keeps us coming back time and time again. | Beer good, and good selection. However the place is seriously let down by the food - arty-farty bits of noveau cuisine. A fiver buys one mouthful. Literally. Two bits of black pudding with some mashedpotato in between (called a stirlingshire stack or somthing like that) - over a fiver and it went in one mouthful. Extortionate !!!
