| Other reviewer s are right to say that a previously excellent pub went badly down hill in recent years. However I popped in today to see how the new landlord is getting on and it looks really promising. Landlord: friendly, engaging local chap, not trying to do anything pretentious with the place just run a good pub. Food: at that nice level between too posh and pub grub. Tad pricy at first glance but all local suppliers. Drink: freehouse so a nice mix including Doombar and a Sheppeys cider on the cusp between fizzy and scrumpy, I had this and it was cracking. | I can remember when this was a busy welcoming little pub.We decided after a quick look around that a ploughmans would be the safest bet. The food that arrived was ok apart from tastless cheese.The place much in need of a clean with grubby tablecloths and almost as much food on the adjacent radiator as on the plate.The landlords aim in life appeared to be to frighten customers away. On a cold day a fireplace with a fire and not just yesterdays dead ash would have been an improvement.
