Back to the White Horse now... 3 bitters, Jennings Cumberland Ale, McMullens Country Bitter & Landlord. Decent pint but didnt feel very 'local' inside. Food looked good though...

This pub changed its name back to The White Horse a while ago. I visited last night after a couple of years since my previous visit. Enjoyed a very pleasant walk beforehand around Watermead Park and canalside. Sat in the garden of The White Horse with a pint of Jennings Cumberland Ale. Unfortunately this wasn't quite so pleasant, it was just about passable and probably on the turn. Thought I would try a different ale, this time a McMullens Country Bitter. Now this was a much better pint but was looked at in astonishment when I asked the girl behind the bar to top up my short measure of a pint.
All in all not a bad pub in a great location, however my visit this time reminds me why it had been so long since my previous visit. They need to try a bit harder!

Old, canalside pub, formerly the White Horse until its makeover a while back. Part of a small chain, owning the Bradgate (Newtown Linford) and possibly others now. A resaonably sympathetic conversion, but as I didn't use it much beforehand, difficult to say. Choice of three or four real ales, bar food, and a reasonable restaurant attached. Good garden overlooking the canal, so gets busy on summer days. Worth a look.
