user reviews of the Butterleigh Inn, Cullompton

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

A very pleasant old country inn untouched by modern life.

Just finding the place is half the adventure to say the pub is in rural isolation would be an understatement!

Cosy inside a pleasant garden a man could drink his life away in a pub like this.

Our light lunch was very pleasant and would recommend this pub to anybody. That is if you can find it!

After a fleeting visit to the Pony & Trap in Cullompton, I moved onto a much more rural pub in the Butterleigh Inn. Another quaint English pub that had a seemingly popular Sunday carvery located in a dining area. The main bar is small. But there is a covered outdoor drinking area and a garden for nicer days. Ales were Dartmoor Jail Ale & IPA, Cotleigh Tawny Owl & Plain Ales Innocence. Cider was Winkleigh Sam's Medium & Sandford Orchards Devon Scrumpy. Friendly staff and customers. Well worth a visit.

Would never have found this place if we hadn't got the Good Pub Guide loaded into the satnav. (Isn't technology great!!) Smashing country pub in every way. The entrance was a bit confusing as you have to go through the gate which was shut and didn't actually look like the entrance if you see what I mean. However once inside we got a warm welcome and top notch food and drink. I also had to park in the village hall car park as if the pub has a car park of its own then its even better hidden than the entrance. Well pleased.

friendly and welcoming country pub, a lovely well kept pint of "Otter Claus" was quaffed here on boxing day, 7/10
