Good sized pub on the outskirts of Wootton Bassett and handy for the M4. Theres a large garden and patio area and a conservatory which is used as a restaurant. The pub itself seems an odd mix of old and new, with wooden beams on the ceiling but lots of stripes as well on both the wallpaper and much of the seating. Theres a mix of seating with some affixed to the wall, some free-standing and even a comfy looking leather sofa.

The pub was very busy on a recent Friday evening visit, although that was no doubt in part to the plasma in the bar showing the football. The bar area itself is attractive enough, but the restaurant area seems to lack any character being, presumably, a more recent addition. More of that stripey wallpaper doesnt help either. They have live music some nights, and theres a fruit machine and quiz machine to complete the pub experience.

The menu was a decent looking selection of pub grub choices, although in practice neither of the two dishes we had warranted their 7.95 price tag. Staff seemed friendly and helpful, especially the waitress Claire.

Beers on this occasion were Timothy Taylor Landlord, 6X, Black Sheep and Green King IPA. It looks as though they usually do Doom Bar, although this was off on our visit. All were reasonably priced at 2.50. Ciders were Strongbow and Thatchers Gold.
