Visted the pub on Monday, not been in for some while.
Found the pub had a new management team and was a much friendlier atmosphere than my last visit.
To a very welcome surprise the specials did not include paninis!! Had Home made burger and Amercian style pancakes for desert. Good looking new menu people I was with als impressed.
Would reccomend this pub to anyone, definatly moving in the right direction.. Live music tonight so heading there to check it out.

I popped into The Anchor last Friday because it had live music and was very pleasantly surprised - many music pubs are not so welcoming. Had a great pint of Fullers' London Pride and saw an excellent local band, Six Miles Away - not too loud either. Wide range of ages too so I didn't feel out of place either.

I first dropped in for a pint about 3 years ago when visiting family in the are, the beer was excellent.
I went in again on 15th April 2007 and what a change.
I asked for a pint of the best beer in the house, there were 3 draught beers. I was presented with a pint with a very loose head, as I got it towards my mouth the smell was enough to put me off. It would have ruined my stomach for several days had I drank it. It was also warm so none had been served for some time. I looked at the guy behind the bar and without me saying anything he said I'll change it! Maybe my expression was enough! The replacement was just a little better, cooler, clear, lacking in condition and no way would you buy another one - or ever go back into the pub. You could not hear yourself speak as the music was so load, no wonder there were just a few youngsters there, trade looked very bad.

This used to be a GREAT pub now it's just plain awful. The new brewery have totally ruined it by taking out the pool table, dart board and jukebox. There is no life and no atmosphere in this pub anymore, such a shame!

It’s rare to find a place where the elders appear to have more energy that the young people in their early ‘20s. The youngsters here are totally soulless and appear to have no energy. They score very high in the chavometer though! The guys working behind the bar are cool though.
