user reviews of the Hope, Chichester

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Unfortunately The Hope is now boarded up. No signs of any refurbishment going on, so maybe it will get turned into a supermarket after all. Shame.

The Hope has reopened (again?) recently (August or September 2012). It had shut and looked like it was going to be turned into a supermarket, but the new landlord has decided to give it another lease of life.
Seems like the business is being built back up slowly having being shut for a while, but on my visit there were two real ales (a Harvey's and Otter, the latter in good condition and reasonably priced for Chichester). Friendly staff, and good to see a local pub being kept open. Worth a visit to show your support.

Having now been in and out of this place over the last few weeks, I find it is now a welcoming, recently refurbished family run friendly establishment on the edge of the town centre and at the centre of the community, with the feel of an up and coming wine bar.

With a relaxing ambience, a patio to the front and a secure beer garden at the rear, this establishment allows you hide from the inclement weather or relax and bask in the sun when the climate is more acceptable.

Now legendary for it Sunday Roast Dinners, there is a popular and constantly developing menu that caters for all tastes; whether its just a quick snack or a main meal, youre sure to be fulfilled, with a compliment of a selection of traditional ales, various lagers or speciality teas and coffees, everything is catered for.

A centre of evening entertainment, with live tribute acts every month, regular discos and many other selected themed events. The bar can also be set up to quietly view available major sports events. The segregated games area also caters for pool and darts, without encroaching on the rest of the establishment. Free wi-fi access is also available throughout, at all times.

Functions are a speciality; from hosting small personal send-offs to full blown celebrations, The Hope is proving to be the favoured choice. Well designed for this purpose, with its entertainment area seamlessly moving into the bar area and further into the wide open conservatory, providing an atmosphere where one can dance the night away, whilst also enabling active conversation in the quieter areas.

More importantly, the Hope, by design, caters for all, providing for a fun and yet relaxing environment at the same time.

this has had more makeovers than cheryl cole, apparently they want to encourage families and get rid of the students. the beer was o.k and the food not bad.
