| Had lunch at Sands the other day, I would call it a Gastro Pub. The prawn cocktail starter was a new approach to an old favourite, and was quite good. My 'mains' of Steak Bernaise for £14-50 was a disapointing, chewy, stringy, cheap cut, which if I had been at home would have been fed to the dog. Don't think I'll be going back! | I have visited here on 2 occasions the first one for food which was far from pub food, it is a little on the posh side for me but very nice all the same and also a little expensive, certainly good for a special occasion. On a second visit it was just for drinks and was very impressed that the guy behind the bar remembered what drinks we had ordered earlier in the eve, and yes it was very busy in there, little things like that go along way,the service was very good tweets - 23 Mar 2007 13:57 |
| Visited Sands for a lunchtime business meeting recently and really enjoyed it. Friendly staff, good beer and an excellent choice of both snack lunches and more interesting meals. Definitely worth a try and apparently they do a good Sunday lunch too. anonymous - 16 Nov 2006 14:56 |
| We had a lovely dinner at Sands yesterday. Very friendly service, delicious food and wine, lovely freshly baked bread. The portions are not the pub size, but very adequate. Not the cheapest of places, but not too bad – 2 course dinner for two with two large glasses of wine - £39.50. Good for special occasions. opossum - 8 Nov 2006 09:48 |
